Statutory Requirements and C.C.S.D. Procedures

The Wyoming Legislature handed down stricter immunization requirement in 1991 (see Statute 21-4-309).

Students who have not had the proper series of immunizations within 30 days of entering school will be excluded from school until they have met the requirements. Waivers will be athorized by the state or county health officer in certain cases of religious objections or when it is known that the immunizations themselves would endanger the child.

Wyoming Statute 21-4-309 requires students be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, rubella and hepatitis B. Accoring to the Wyoing Department of Health, the legislation now applies to all students attending full- or part-time at private and public schools. No grandfather clause is allowed.

A portion of the statute reads as follows: "Unless exempt, all persons in kindergarten through twelfth grade who are entering initially or who are transferring from another state into any public or private school are required to be adequately immunized within 30 calendar days of entry."

For further details about immunization requirements or special circumstances, contact the school where your child will attend, the Campbell County Public Health Office at 682-7275, or the Wyoming Immunization Program at 307-777-7952.
