DECA Advisor

  • NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: 
    The purpose of a DECA advisor is to maximize the educational and occupational opportunities for each student enrolled in Marketing and Distributive Education and to follow the policies and procedures of Campbell County School District. 

    JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    To organize and advise the DECA youth group.
    To attend DECA functions or find a suitable replacement for supervision of DECA members.
    To plan monthly meetings and executive meetings with the chapter officers.
    To supervise DECA money-making or fund-raising activities and keep an accurate budget.
    To take the local chapter officers to the SOLD conference in August.
    To prepare students for competition at the State and National DECA Conference.
    To take chapter representatives to the State and National DECA conferences.
    Prepare a budget for student travel.
    Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding the progress and development of the DECA Program.
    Perform other duties or tasks related to the DECA Program as requested by the Building Principal.
    Prepare a detailed annual report highlighting the activity accomplishments, participation levels and recommendations for its improvement.
    May be responsible for supervising students on out-of-town activities. This may involve staying overnight.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND MENTAL ABILITY:
    Knowledge of 1st Aid and CPR.
    Possess a knowledge of keyboarding, typing, accounting, business and office procedures, marketing, and distributive education.
    Possess a broad general knowledge of all subject areas with specific knowledge needed in contract areas.
    Possess group dynamics and interpersonal skills.
    Possess knowledge of psychological, emotional, and educational behavioral development of children.
    Possess classroom management skills which include discipline as well as record keeping and assessment ability.
    Possess technological and computer skills.
    Possess problem solving, imagination, patience, reasoning, creativity, judgment, and analytical abilities.
    Possess the ability to get along with the business community.
    Have a minimum of 2,000 hours of paid occupational experience in a marketing or distributive career.
    EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
    Possess all certificates required for the State of Wyoming.
    Possess at a minimum a Bachelor's Degree.
    Continue to pursue graduate level classes for professional growth.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Be able to stand, walk, and sit for long periods without fatigue or discomfort.
    Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry 20 feet.
    Be able to push up to 200 pounds up to 30 feet.
    Be able to pull up to 100 pounds up to 50 feet.
    Be able to carry up to 25 pounds for 50 feet throughout the work day.
    Be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, finger, talk, hear, and see.
    ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
    Be able to spend most of the time inside classrooms with some work outside in cold/hot weather.
    Be able to tolerate noise up to 90 decibels.
    Some employees may be occupationally exposed to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials based on task and procedures required.
