    NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB: 
    Provides leadership for the District's K-12 visual and performing arts programs, which include art, music, and theater. Responsible for the planning, organizing, and development of quality fine arts education programs.


    JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Facilitates and coordinates development of performance outcomes and expectations K-12 and alignment of curriculum K-12.
    Responsible for hiring, supervision and evaluation of the district fine arts teachers, and for coordinating this responsibility with the building principals.
    Implements necessary staff development programs for the fine arts program.
    Develops communication networks among schools and between schools and the fine arts community.
    Coordinates the orientation and in-service training of fine arts education staff.
    Serves as a liaison with the fine arts community for the establishment of partnerships.
    Oversees the district musical instrument inventory, replacement, and rental process.
    Schedules activities for fine arts department and coordinates with Director of Activities.
    OTHER FUNCTIONS:

    Develops long-range replacement schedule for major equipment of the fine arts program.
    Supervises preparation of public relations materials and projects related to fine arts programs.
    Assists in the planning, maintenance prioritization, remodeling, and updating of fine arts facilities.
    Monitors current trends and best practices necessary to meet the needs of the fine arts participants.
    Suggests development or revision of policies related to fine arts education programs.
    Serves as a liaison with local, regional, and state fine arts organizations.
    Advocates for excellence in fine arts education in a comprehensive educational program for students.
    Seeks and applies for fine arts grant funding.
    Assists in identifying and recruiting quality new fine arts staff to the district.
    Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND MENTAL ABILITY:

    Demonstrated exemplary success in one of the following areas: art, vocal music, instrumental music, or theater education.
    Knowledge of and experience with art, vocal and instrumental music, and theater education.
    Knowledge of budgeting, grant acquisition, and other resources.
    Ability to effectively communicate in both written and oral formats.
    Ability to work with people of various personality types.
    Ability to write clearly and concisely.
    Possess sound emotional judgment.
    EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:

    Master's Degree in fine arts or fine arts education, with at least three years of successful teaching experience in the fine arts; experience at the elementary or secondary level preferred.
    Administrative endorsement, experience, certification preferred.

    Possess the visual acuity and stamina to work at computer monitor for ten percent of the day.
