    Recommendations:

    According to the CDC and the American College of Sports Medicine, adults should participate in moderate intensity activities for at least 30 minutes on 5 or more days of the week.

    What is considered "moderate intensity"? How much exercise is needed to gain some benefit? Follow the links below to the CDC web site for answers on these and many other questions you may have about a physical activity program.

    • Reduces the risk of developing heart disease and deaths related to CAD

    • Reduces the risk of stroke

    • Reduces the risk of developing colon, breast, prostate, and lung cancer

    • Reduces the risk of developing high blood pressure, and also reduces blood pressure in people with hypertension

    • Lowers total cholesterol and triglycerides while increases high-density lipoproteins (HDL "good" cholesterol)

    • Reduces total body fat, reduced intra-abdominal fat

    • Reduces the risk of developing type II diabetes, improves glucose tolerance

    • Reduces feelings of anxiety and depression

    • Enhances feelings of well-being

    • Helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints
