PPO

  • Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)

Effective July 1, 2007 the district’s medical plan added network providers known as a Preferred Provider Organization, or PPO.
This means that insured employees now have the opportunity to experience lower out-of-pocket expenses when you choose a physician or facility that is on the preferred provider list.
You have access to four state plan PPOs, as well as a national PPO network, and two regional PPOs. Please select the links to search for providers within each network. You may use any provider you wish, and have the benefit that is listed under the schedule of benefits for each plan.
If you see an in-network provider, you will not be charged above the usual and customary amount for a procedure and you will receive a discount from the provider.
If you see an out of network provider, any amount charged above usual and customary will be your responsibility, and it will not be applied towards your deductible/co-insurance out of pocket maximum.
