Wildcats show off coffee shop education

Wildcats show off coffee shop education

Wagonwheel Elementary's third-grade classrooms were transformed into coffee shops this morning, as trained baristas made their way to tables, taking orders and dishing out receipts with a distinct level of professionalism.

The classes, taught by Tiffany Small and Nicole Hewitt-Gaffney, visited The Local earlier this week to experience a real-life coffee shop atmosphere. Since then, students have developed their own menus and written about what opening a business may look like.

This morning, they practiced their listening and speaking skills, while also making recommendations - like hot cocoa with coffee creamer - when asked about their specialty menu item.

And students took the experience seriously.

"When I came in, he didn't even say Mom," Stephanie said, of her son, Wyatt, with a smile. "He said, 'Welcome to Wildcat Cafe ma'am. Right this way.'"

From catered pastries to specialized drink deliveries, these Wildcats did it all. Thanks for such a fun morning!
