Rawhide sixth-grader designs Campbell County's Semiquincentennial logo
In 2026, the United States will celebrate its Semiquincentennial — 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence ![]()
Communities across the country are planning special ways to mark the milestone and Campbell County is no exception. As part of the celebration, Campbell County School District sixth-graders were invited to design an official Semiquincentennial logo for the county.
More than 300 students submitted designs, which were narrowed down to 15 finalists before the Campbell County 250 committee made its final selection.
The winning logo was created by Braylynn Hitt, a sixth-grader at Rawhide Elementary. Her art teacher is Sue Cosgrove and her sixth-grade teacher is Kristain Schutt. Braylynn said she was shocked to learn her design had been chosen to represent Campbell County’s 250th anniversary celebrations ![]()
Braylynn’s logo will be used in a number of ways come 2026, including on T-shirts, banners and pins. Her main inspiration for the logo was Wyoming’s state animal.
“I knew the buffalo was the state animal so I kind of just put two and two together,” she said.
Cliff Toole, Rawhide’s principal, said that when he saw Braylynn’s design, it stood out.
“When I was looking through the logos, hers did jump out at me,” he said.
Congratulations, Braylynn! How special for your artwork to act as the focal point for Campbell County’s celebrations – a moment in history your creativity will help bring to life.
